Thread: Cutting down 110 roof into ute roof

It has probably been done, but at least one has been described here to convert a wagon into a dual cab. Fitting a proper ute cab would probably be cheaper and far less hassle with engineering approval - except that there is likely to be a real shortage of these with all those buying Perentie soft tops and wanting to change them to something relatively thief-proof.

Yeah I have a ute that's missing the roof and can not find a ute roof for sale but I have a wagon roof just sitting there

The curved rear corners are the problem.

JRA in the 1980's chopped 110 Counties immediately after the rear side doors for the Bicentennial Land Rovers (the ones that towed the 5th wheeler display vans). They were a straight chop. Not very attractive when compared to the curved dual cab versions in the Puma.

The other ones were the Telstra extra cabs where they had an extended single cab, with a curved rear roof and were more attractive..

I'm starting to run out of options, if I can't find one cutting it down is going to be my last choice. As ugly as it might be

It's not ugly, it's just a reversion to type (check out pictures of the series one long wheelbase ute).

But I think series 1 Landies are great but series 1 hard tops ugly! Like an upside down pyramid.

On a Series 2 and later, particularly if you use the ute cab corners and rear window a straight cut looks odd.

Beauty may be in the eye of the beholder but ugly is as ugly is!

Single cab defenders/110 are very squeezy if you are much over 5'7" tall.

I Have a few series 3 ute cabs I was going to mix and match parts and cut a few roofs up to make one
