Yes, the 3.0lt engine is the same.
Used engines from a wrecker, $10K - $15K and you risk it failing again.
$25K or there abouts for a new crate engine.
$5K or there abouts to install either option.
For a vehicle worth about the same as the repair bill.

Thanks Daz...You summed up my dilemma very well. I’m paying about 2/3rds of the value of the car to getting it running again; and then tossing a coin as to whether it will do it again...

These are such nice motors when they are running. But these are the numbers that really put me off a L405 & L494. I would like a L405 with 18” compos.

Update....I have confirmed with JLR Aust that the TDV6 in the L494 model has a single turbo; whereas the SDV6 in the L494 has the sequential bi-turbo.

So my revised question is can a SDV6 from a L494 be transplanted (easily) into a SDV6 powered L320?

But you are really only after a long engine and all your old ancilliaries including turbos would come across from your old engine to the new engine.

If its a 2.7lt out of a Land Rover its a single turbo (TDV6)
if its a 3.0lt out of a Land Rover its a twin turbo (TDV6 or SDV6)

doesnt matter the tdv6 or sdv6 designation.

You’re correct. I was attempting to avoid any possible incompatibility with the figment of my controls and accessories to the later model engine block. Typically it is the accessories which get updated over time!

For instance, are the engine block turbo recovery inlets the same between the blocks? I would assume so, but I’m not sure!

I am with the implication of DazzaTD5's post - you have been given wrong information from JLR Aust - all 3.0 TDV6/SDV6 engines are sequential turbos (2x turbos) - may have different power outputs but all have 2 turbos.
