    Scuba Diving

am taking up diving again after some years of neglect - anyone know any reputable training places near Campbelltown? Have my PADI, but am tossing up whether to do a refresher course, or a full blown course, as it's been awhile ....

    I know how you feel.
I used to teach diving in QLD and israel/Red sea.
I went again recently and you be amazed what and how quickly it comes back to you.
    Refresher is a good idea.
Did you do a open water course?
Did you do it while on holiday or with a company back home.
The quick ones whislt on holidays are never very good, they count on people never diving again etc.
May be to a advanced course now, so you can do 40 metres in depth and that will be a refresher as well.

Have a look at the NASDS system, i think thats what its called anyhow. thats designed and coordinated by australian company for australia and world wide acceptance. The Padi is the american quick in and quick out system.

Anyhow, enjoy your diving and look after your buddy.

As an ex PADI Instructor, I can only support Big Guy's comments. If Canberra is not too far, have a talk to Steve Harding at the Scuba Store. He is very good (though not PADI) and may simply recommend you do a couple of dives under a watchful eye rather than a more formal refresher course.

I did a PADI course with a dive company on Victoria Road, near Balmain. They were good (except the first day practical was done in a pool where the heater was broken - and it was FREEZING in early spring ...).

There must be a number of places close to you that will be able to help out.

I just tried to find it via google. It might be this one: Deep Six Diving. Mark Carpenter.1057 Victoria Road, West Ryde, Sydney, NSW 2114

    Hi, thanks.

I originally did my open water diving with the British Sub Aqua Club ... then did the full course when I came back to Aus.

A friend lent me a DVD ... can't believe how much it has changed with all the fancy fandangle stuff they use now. Evidently don't really need to know that much about dive tables.

So think I'll do the full course again ...

Used to love diving the the UK, "ice diving", only problem I couldn't last more than about 10 minutes before hyperthermia set in. Love exploring old wrecks too. Night diving is pretty awesome too.

Love the red sea for diving, back in the 90's i was working near Haifa and myself and a few mates travelled down to Dahab via Eilat to go diving there. Been a while for me too, last dive was in Lake Malawi at Cape Maclear, fresh water.

Thanks for that ... I originally did PADI through Frog Dive, in Willoughby - they were very good, professional & thorough. Will give them a bell.
