Great show. I took 60 photos. Lots of interesting stuff. Nev. Morris took along his restored WW2 Guiberson radial diesel engine and started it on the hour. A couple of (over)restored sprint cars were quite impressive. I don't think they have been run since restoration was completed, certainly never on a dirt track. A clutch of GT40 replicas in immaculate show condition as was a Lotus 11, all of which appeared to never have been run. A veteran Clement-Bayard and a 1912 Cadillac were a credit to their owners.
For the REMLR brown jobs, there was a restored and functioning Wiles cooker turning out bulk onions for the Rotary Club food stalls.
Historic aircraft and warbirds were flying all day. I got a photo of a Winjeel opening the throttle to taxi and which action produced an enormous cloud of smoke. Must not have got the oil out of the bottom cylinders before start up.
I took a photo of an ultralight purely because the engine installation looked like it was done by an agricultural workshop, possibly Cyrus McCormick's.
A Douglas DC3 fuselage mounted on a 1940's International truck chassis had a carnival mechanical music maker that uses slotted tape like a pianola and is mounted on a slide out rack. The machine was playing all day.
I was really impressed by the standard of presentation of a 1956 Pontiac and a clutch of Cadillacs, all of which are registered and get used.

So Brian,, if you passed the Music Plane you must have seen the German Auto's Pro Class buggy,,, ??
yea,, I ended up with 120 odd pics,,
saw the radial fire up,, thought it might cartwheel away when he revved it up![]()

The originals were nothing like as well finished as the replicas. Besides how many real ones were made?
Getting a bit like Maserati 250F about which has been said that there are more now competing in historic racing than were ever built and the owners all claim they are real if they contain some genuine parts. Bugatti are like this also. A prominent Australian Bugattiste told me recently that if one is considering purchase of a Bugatti one should regard it as a fake until positively proven otherwise. A Sotheby's catalogue some years ago offered a Bugatti with the description "believed to contain some genuine Bugatti parts".
I can take you to a shed in Gumdale that has a replica GT40 chassis waiting for the rest of the mechanicals to be acquired. Lots of "Cobra" replicas laying around unfinished also.
This is how you can tell replica Norton Manx from the real thing. You can make a new Manx entirely from replica new parts. Getting that way with Vincent-HRD's too.
Foundry technology, machine shop equipment, and metal finishing has improved exponentially since the days of hand manufacure in cottage industries, sometimes literally under the railway arches in an old industrial revolution town.

That first pic looks like a Panther Lima, would be Vauxhall running gear if I remember correctly.
