This one's a bit more unusual than the South African versions or others that might have used the Chev badge.
It's a Mazda Roadpacer.
Body by Holden, but released in Japan as a "luxury" Mazda. The engine was Mazda's 13B rotary. It was released to appeal to diplomats and the like, as a competitor to the Toyota Century and Nissan President (both V8's).
My young bloke is right into his Mazda rotary's, with an imported RX7 in the shed next to my Discovery. When I showed him this a while back (it has the same basic engine as his RX7) - he was disgusted.
Engine bay looks a bit "light on" compared with what we were used to. It was lacking in grunt, with a top speed of about 165 km/hr and guzzled fuel like there was no tomorrow.
It never sold - was a dismal failure.
Cheers .........
BMKAL
I bet the Mazda executive who thought of that doesn't work there any more.
Chew fuel, its a rotary thing
My dad had one of these when I was a kid.
It was sold for scrap in 1950

BMKal - thanks - interesting (if pointless) cheers.

Geez, can't remember and now can't see and read....
Easy peasy.
Mazda Pacemaster or some such model name.
Basically a Holden HJ Premier sans engine and gearbox exported to Mazda in Japan who fitted a 13B rotary and gearbox.
IIRC only about 500 or so were produced.
Reputed to be very smooth and quiet but a slug to drive.
All remembered from the very first Wheels mag i bought as a 15yo in 1980
Why can't I remember things i read now
