Hindsight is powerful thing.

Rally Calder used tracks in various configurations for the weekend. That concrete barrier was used to seperate the start and finish gate of another stage.

The Aston hit that section of the track with WAY too much speed. It wasn't a high speed section. vehicles came through the chicane drove the 400ms under heavy brakes to the sharp right hander on the other side of the barrier to exit the dome.

The aston came throguh the chicane at full noise with no braking. once it hit the grass it was all over... 2 x passengers.

The vehicle did its job. The Barrier did its job.

Should it be concrete Vs Water... makes little difference both are bit and heavy.

It was sickening to watch. The driver / co driver were very lucky.

Remember, this is rally, not circuit racing, the competitors are used to driving in the bush with big heavy trees etc.

Poor car.
