For those interested in trains.
The BHP Iron Ore train broke the world record for heaviest train in its May 28, 1996 run from Australian cities Newman to Port Hedland. The 10 locomotives and 540 ore cars had a combined mass of 7.22 x 107 kg.


Holds the world record for it too.

Heaviest Freight Train
The heaviest-ever train weighed 99,732.1 tonnes (220 million lb) and was 7.353 km (4,568 miles) long. Assembled by Australia's BHP Iron Ore, the train travelled 275 km (171 miles) from the company's Newman and Yandi mines to Port Hedland, Western Australia, on June 21, 2001 The train had 5,648 wheels, and was assembled to test out a new train control system, which essentially allows the driver in the front locomotive to control the other seven engines simultaneously, even though they are spaced at intervals of nearly a kilometre along the length of the train.

on a daily basis this train is between 4 - 6 k's long.

It is a lot of dirt to be shifting about.


Yanks dont like our road trains here either.

Up to 5 dogs long and even over that sometimes.

Hi bigbugga, the very reason I bought my first 4WD was to go for a trip up your way to have a look at the railways.
3 Landies later and I’m still looking forward to my trip to the Northwest.
I made a trip by rail to Alice Springs in 1972 and I was up at the lookout, watching the goings on in the railway yard. When this Shell prime mover backs up onto a string of flat cars and about 10 minutes later drives off with 6 road tanker trailers in tow.

I've been keeping and breeding reptiles for the past 25 years, as well as travelling all over the countryphotographing them and other wildlife. Until recently my collection numbered over 500 animals. Work started taking up too much of my time so I've had to cut down the numbers somewhat.I also keep about 20 different species of native waterfowl and various parrots. Riding my Moto Guzzi big distances in small times, leaving home in the morning and going to sleep over a 1000ks away in the Defender, landscaping the new home, drinking beer on the verandah whilst listening to 70s punk rock, pig hunting and vermin destruction, dog walking(I have 4)and acting like the same idiot I was when I was 18.
