Well the whole race was a bit of a joke.
The red flag BS even in the rules provided unfair advantage to certain teams.
The decision to short fuel Lowndes so Whinchup would not have to stack was a joke and cost Lowndes the race. Roland needs to look at this first as this is was cost them and was just stupid as they new they would then need a splash and dash even with a safety car. Has been a huge ongoing issue with Whincup always getting preferential treatment.
Lowndes being penalized for Winterbottom sliding the back end and causing the incident was a joke.
If Whincup had slowed he would have been passed by at least 3 cars before the flag dropped so really inconsequential.
The track should not have been fixed and the drivers should have adapted.
Safety cars like this race were a joke that benefitted drivers that had previously caused issues, like Mpstert and Whincup and makes the sport look ridiculous. They did not get to the front by skill but by safety cars.

Glad you enjoyed the race, which has been recognized by an overwhelming majority as the best in years.
Winterbottom/Lowndes?...BBIIGG fan of Craig here. Mate, Lowndes turned him around,...nothing to do with Frosty, and....he cost Frosty several places,.....Lowndes admitted his mistake.
"Stacking"?..I don't like it either,...who does. Favourites?..Don't think so, ..the driver that's in front usually comes in first, which is invariably Whincup.
Track fixing & safety cars,...Mate, I'm not in favour of them either, but it's really the world we live in, "Do gooders", "Gotta do the right thing", ra ra ra, & imagine the drama from the "dogooders" (they would've had a field day?)if someone had actually gone off the track, hit a wall, turned over, or whatever, & been killed as a result of that part of the track breaking up,.....and it DID cause some drama.
It's about time you got into that SS of yours & started a thread on it, Pickles.

Be close to an inch deep in the centre of some of the bigger ones, nothing deeper than that.

This must have been after the repair, looking at Bacicat's pics in post 165
    Dave.

I was asked " Is it ignorance or apathy?" I replied "I don't know and I don't care."

The v8's need to introduce the new ruel they have in F1 where the pit crew are not allowed to give the driver any instructions on how to drive the car & what to do to get more power or better fuel economy.
Wingecup would probely like that & he could do what ever he wants & even still blame some one else. I see that in the F1 one of the teams protested that Redbull were giving there driver instructions in code.

Winterbottom actually stepped out at Hell Corner causing his car to decelerate and Lowndes at speed and ready to make an overtaking move could not stop quick enough. Whenever this has happened all year it has not resulted in a penalty with Winterbottom being guilty of the same on at least 2 occasions, Whincup more. I am on more about consistency of rulings and that is not occuring. With only 6 laps to go they should have reviewed it after the race. The commentator could not believe he got pinged for it.
I agree with what you have said with the track breaking up, but surely the drivers are intelligent enough to avoid it? There have been far rougher surfaces in the past. May be some legal action against the company that laid it. You could see from the air they had done a patch job well before it broke up and even the day before.
Yes I need to get some dollars and get the SS on the road, after the Defender is running and I am gainfully employed again.
