A few things going on around the place at the moment. St George have started pre-season training today and the first NRL club to have started preparing for season 2015. Coach Paul McGregor has included club legends Ben Hornby and Dean Young to his coaching staff. I personally think McGregor will be a good coach in the future. If Cherry-Evans can't play will Hunt be selected? He's a Queenslander so he would handle it just fine.

Paul Gallen is the latest player to be diagnosed with depression. Is the modern player facing more challenges the past players,or is it just the modern player feels more comfortable talking it about compared to past players? The list of players getting help for depression at the moment Boyd,Barba,Maitua,Idris thats players who have admitted it,wonder how many others or keeping it to themselves?

NZ attacked the edge of the ruck with their big men, all night. Cherry Evans had to break, & he did. Hunt? not sure at 5/8 at this level. Losing Inglis & Cherry evans was too much of an adjustment for the young Kangaroos. I like the way the Kiwis played in attack, not overly structured, hard to defend against. This is going to be a great 4 Nations, Bob
I’m pretty sure the dinosaurs died out when they stopped gathering food and started having meetings to discuss gathering food

A bookshop is one of the only pieces of evidence we have that people are still thinking

If Hunt misses out and DCE is still not fit what would be the back up plan?

I'd be tempted to use Greg Bird in defence, hide Hunt out wide, bring Hunt in to attack. Smith played 5/8, after DCE got hurt, and made far too many tackles, 42, taking him out of the attack when desperately needed. Farah played 5/8 in the 2nd half, not his best game. The biggest mistake would be to play DCE, if injured, he was out of sorts at5/8., & the Kiwis took advantage of it. Bob

Seems to me that they come up with a mental health diagnosis to explain away bad behaviour.
Frequent defence in the courts for all sorts.
Yes, you might be depressed, but should still take responsibility for your misdemeanours and indiscretions.

On & Off the subject of RL.
Our kids season ended in September & we wanted them to have some form of sport to do in the Summer.
We thought about tennis because there is not much else in a small country town, we were just about to try and organised this when we received these AFL Auskick forms.
We had a talk about it & decided to let the kids go along.
What an excellent program. It's all games based, the bloke doing it is just great with kids & the kids just loved it.
Why doesn't the NRL have something like this?
In our case there is no AFL type competition on the Atherton tablelands but there is a strong Junior RL competition but come the off season nothing!
2 of our 5 kids just love RL & 1 is pretty good at it, the other has his days, why not keep there interest up, keep them keen, keep them enjoying the game?
Seems the NRL can't do this so the AFL steps into the breach & who knows, the NRL might loose 5 young players to AFL if they get a comp going around our way.
I think the NRL better get their act together with juniors! In Doomadgee the Titans constantly visit & work with the kids, no competition here at all, but nobody does anything similar in Ravenshoe where they have a good junior club.
Seems ridiculous to me & not doing the game or the kids any favours.

I don't think i have seen someone rise to a Kangaroos jersey as fast as Hunt.

Australia, Vs. NZ , in the final. Some great Rugby league played, from all teams. Samoa fell for rope a dope. Everyone knows,, get aggressive with Polynesians, they lose the plot, & want to bash you. I like NZ, they have the skill, & the head space, to go all the way. Isaac Luke, could be the man to give NZ the Cup. Will be listening to the final , on a wireless, on an island close to home. It's tough living in a tropical paradise. Bob
