Toyota also owns a major component of Subaru (Fuji Heavy Industries) hence the Toyota 86 and the Subaru BRZ.

GM also owns Daewoo - Daewoo no longer sells cars under its own brand but GM uses the Daewoo factory to manufacture is world cars that are sold under the various GM brand names - the Holden Cruize is the obvious local product.

Under the skin there are and have been many cars that are not quite what the customer might think they are buying. More often than not the motor media does not mention it. Some examples:

First generation BMW Mini used the Chrysler engine from the Neon
Current Mercedes A Class was designed by Chrysler
Peugeot Citroen uses Ford Diesel engines
Ford Ka is a Fiat 500 even built in a Fiat factory
Small Peugeot Citroen are rebadged Toyota even built in a Toyota factory
Jeep Renegade is a Fiat 500 built by Fiat
Opel start off as Daewoo Chev and are then Europeanised
The Peugeot 4X4 range in Europe rebadged Mitsubishi
Renault rebuilt their range by replacing theirs with Nissan platforms and engines

and no doubt many more if I thought about it

Is more interesting where the customer is not in on the laugh and is buying due to the 'brand'

The Renegade is a Fiat 500x. They make the 500 in standard and super size L. X being the 4x4 version of the L.

Went to the local Fiat dealer to have a look at a 500x however they did not have one in stock. Did though have a Fiat dual cab ute which they were keen for me to try. Now is this a Fiat or .......
