But does show the young guys don't have the same stamina as the guys in the 60.70s and even 80's. Having said all that they should have gotten him out of the car.
Craig, these blokes are 1000 times fitter than the drivers thirty years ago.

The modern cars are beasts to drive drive, and they are at near 100% for most of the time.
Back in the day they had to cruise to preserve the car.

The problem with today's cars is, unlike cars of earlier eras, the windows do not wind down, and so there is no way to get air in the car, so ya've got temps of 50C+, and no air circulation,..never a problem with earlier stuff,....IMHO of course.
    Pickles.
And with the rain tossed in, imagine what the humidity must have been like in those vehicles.
These vehicles are most likely running a lot hotter thermostats than the vehicles from the days of old, so that would up the temp in the office for the drivers.

    Cheers, Mick.

Pffft - all this technology and they can't run the AC....

Joking aside, I thought it was a great race - really loved the fact there was no safety cars for so long. The end of the race was just brilliant, and a great outcome. Felt sorry for Scotty, I must have put the moz on him after saying I wanted him to win.

I'm old, so I remember the "öld days", ..Peter Janson?....never ran in his life, but a ripper driver, Alan Brown (Recar) never did a scrap of exercise, Big Pete,..I doubt He ever even walked anywhere, Stormn Norman,....fitness was never an issue in the old days, most of the drivers were not even pros, they mostly had a "real job" during the week,...gymnasiums in team HQs?....Unheard of.
No, fitness, mental as well as physical, is a VERY big issue these days, as is telemetry, car "tuning" by the driver, during the race,...it's a very different ball game these days.
As someone said, & correctly, these cars are on the limit, all the time, as is the driver,.....however, I have to say this, if you can get to "the top",...the rewards can be good, very good in fact, better than they've ever been, which is the same in most sports today,...have a look at what AFL players make these days?!

Glad you enjoyed it Gav, and your breakfast even if you did have to cook it yourself!
I'm not a fan of wet influenced Bathursts, but I have to say that this race was one of the best, could even be the best, (my memory is short!) that I've seen, but I reckon they're all good, just love Bathurst, can't wait for 2018!
A big part of Supercars, IMHO anyway, is understanding/looking at the various strategies, and how the cars are "tuned", in various ways, from first practice to quali, by which time they should be a much quicker car.

    All good, Pickles.

wimps! ... it's just like driving an old Defender or Perentie all day in northern Australia, build up season...temps often in excess of 50C!
