Hi,
Do you have a pressure limiting valve in the circuit?
Is there a one-way valve in the circuit?
I have had problems with both, getting a harmonic as you describe, which took a long time to isolate.
Cheers
ps not a plumber!
If the tap on my kitchen sink is turned on for a slow flow of water the pipes "sing" - is the best way I can describe it - not hammering.
Easily fixed by increasing water flow and the "singing" stops. Now my dishwasher is connected to the same cold water pipe - no issues with the dishwasher I had but it broke and I now have a Bosch which uses half the water of the old one.
When water goes into the new dishwasher the pipes "sing" which is audible throughout the house and really annoying. If I get up and turn on the kitchen tap on then off then the singing stops even though the dishwasher is taking water but then starts singing again when the dishwasher needs water.
So plumbers is there an easy way to deal with this or do I need to give my left kidney to pay for a plumber to come out and advise on the problem.
Thanks
Garry

I recently had the same problem. I went to the water meter to try adjusting the flow there to see what would happen. I found a pool of water under the meter. Sydney Water came out and fixed the leak. When I got my water bill for the quarter, it was twice that of the same period for previous years so who knows for how long the leak existed.

Thanks simple answer is I dont know - the hot water system has a pressure limiting valve on it but that is on the hot system not the cold system.
The cold system does have anti hammer devices on the kitchen cold water line and the laundry cold water line but but not sure about one way circuits or pressure limiting valves. Pressure in the system over all is good but not so high that it blows hoses off their connectors etc.

I did find a tap right at the back of one of the other cupboards in the kitchen. It is not a normal tap. By adjusting how much this tap is open or closed I stopped the singing when the sink tap is on but no matter what the position of this tap the dishwasher makes it sing - but as before if I also operate the sink tap at the same time as the dishwasher the singing stops even when I close the sink tap.
The tap is inline so I will get a new one and put it in and see if that fixes the issue. There does seem to be a pressure reducer and a anti-hammer device so will replace then as well - they are all inline so will just unscrew.
Thanks for the pointers - was really helpful.
Cheers
