For me it’s got to be one of two cars for total style and class:
1. The E-type Jaugar
Even Enzo himself said “most beautiful looking car ever made”
Or
2. Jaguar XK8, (the next e-type?)

The first true mid engined supercar, stunning to look at and something I'd like to own.
I did the Dutton Rally in '91 with a couple of blokes (a QC and his mechanic) that nearly killed themselves in one and totalled the car :eek:
It was a funny experience, I'd raced karts and was a part time Formula Ford mechanic and was invited to navigate a '65 Maserati Sebring 3500 GT (nice car) but it had reliabilty issues (Lucas Injection :D) So spent the rest of the rally in a BMW 330CSi, which was nice as it was 35*+ every day and the Bimmer had air conditioning. Anyway, after two weeks surrounded by exotica, you became very blase to it, and became really critical with the design compromises and lack of (Italian and British) build quality.
BTW, everyone bagged out the Countach (and their owners) ;)
Actually put me off exotic cars, and their ****** owners :angel: more bloody egos and bull**** than anything else I've experienced.
A friend has a Series II E Type rag top, and it surprised me how competent it is for such an old car. Heaps of torque from the big six, and apart from the flex and scuttle shake up Greendale Rd Wallacia (It used to be a shocking road) was a lot of fun. I really liked it and they do look fantastic. One of his neighbous has one that is built up like a club racer, wide Simmons wheels and tyres, side exit exhaust, etc in BRG. Maybe not for the purists but looks the goods IMHO.
Used to want an X1-9 and an Alfa GTV, both a Bertone and an Alfetta, lusted after A9-X Torana's forever (best looking Oz touring car, ever) but would be disapointed with the performance these days, standard V6 Commode would damn near blow it's doors off.
Geez, the list is long. I could add Bolwell's Nagari and the insane looking Ikara, the Ilinga, a good attempt at an Oz GT car in the seventies and powered by the P76 V8, Ferrari 288 GTO, an old Jeep CJ6 to build up as a project and definately an MB Willys.
Current car I could put in my garage is a Lotus Exige, by the sound of things the closest thing to a Formula Ford on road and probably an Evo 9 or Sti, cause we have some nice dirt roads around here and a ....
Is there any funds limit on this wish list ??:D
I've actually owned one of my dream cars.
It was a 95 Discovery Rossignol. And I got it new. And it never had a warranty claim.
And it did 10mpg round town. But who cares? (20 mpg was much better on its many long runs).
But it didn't have enough doors for an ever growing family, hmmmmm.
I wonder what ever happened to it?

I have a friend who owns a paint & panel & custom car shop. He refuses to do insurance work unless they are prepared to pay his hourly rate and pay for actual hours put in, not standard hours. He does pretty well all street machiners and high value restoration work. His toy is a 4.2 Jaguar e-type with a serious horsepower Chev. 350 all aluminium engine (ex sprint car, detuned for street) with alum. case close ratio Muncie trans. The body was restored to file finish and painted to 100 point show standard. Brakes have been changed beyond recognition, and lots of mods made to improve serviceability and accessability. An almost complete redesign of the electrical system was required. Knock off wire wheels from Daytona Wire Wheel, 7" in front, 8" in rear. Car looks stock standard except for the fat wheels, a real Q-ship.Quote:
