I'm a Capt (AAC) and OC of our Local unit 503ACU.
I sort of got roped into it by an ARA Capt (Mick Tugwell - a former RSM of 1RAR) whom I'd worked with at 5Trg Gp when he was a WO2 and I was a GRes LT.
Very interesting, I asked as my son (all most 15) has been a member for some time and somehow I have gone from being a parent helper to an OOC. "Volunteered" I think is the term they used..![]()
mind you it's a chance to use some skills that I learnt long ago in a land far away .....ooops starting to sound like a fairy tale.....

.......and I thought that there might be others out there in the same situation, I'm always looking for a new resorce...

I was a WO II in the army cadets in 1979was a cadet for 5 years
I think a lot of the leadership skills it taught me have help me time and time again ever since..

Now Capt Rover as named by Mick Tugwell and I've got 55ACU Eastern Goldfields up the road from Jamo. Anybody else out there? for the k1w1's Iwas a cadet on the Westcoast a lifetime ago and became an RF Cadet back then. First LR I drove was a S2 shorty in '69 in Waiouru. Plenty of the recoiless rifle models back then. Wonder where they all went.

Ardagh. Sgt Hudson was one of our instructors. I'm assuming the class was named after him. I heard he coped a grenade during practice.

Correct on both counts, only class ever named after an NCO....Originally Posted by LieutenantRover

Theres a few ex clubbies in WA. The OC of the Port Headland Cadet Unit was in 1980 I think, the class where a cadet was shot. Start off as a young cadet and finish up as a bloody old one. One of Ardagh class was in both NZ and Aus SAS. His kids were in 56ACU and one is now an Aus Captain.
