The early series might have been the 4-cylinder Hillman-engined Alpine (much the same engine as my Hillman Hunter Royal 660) but in the later series Maxwell drove a Sunbeam Tiger (the much more desirable version with the Ford 289 V8 shoe-horned in for the Rootes Group by Carroll Shelby).
