    I think apostrophes were long ago dropped from signs in Oz. I can't recall seeing one in many years.

    I believe the apostrophe is an essential part of grammar but I suspect it will eventually disappear.

    Ron, don't worry... it'll still be used by many to indicate plurals (plural's)

    I oppose the apostrophe'less!

    The department store is even David Jones now instead of David Jones'!

    It's a bit like the way people write "Anzac" as in (Anzac Pde) whereas it should be ANZAC, the illiterate are out-breeding the literate so alas we'll see more of it.
