One little note on these choppers is that they use heading hold gyros to control the tail rotor. This means as you add or reduce collective it senses the chopper trying to twist and changes the pitch on the tail rotor to compensate. From an remote control perspective this makes the plane much easier to fly. :)

btw - I've got a simulator for my pc that does all the planes, gliders and choppers and I tell ya - that guy is good, REAL GOOD. You just try hovering for a minute or two. Those performance choppers are so twitchy.

Nice looking helo - I assume it is not 3D capable or is it like me that the pilot is not 3D capable:o. I like flying these things but am not very good and do not have the hand eye coordination to do anything other than take off basic flight and landings (sometimes without crashing).
On my coffee table I have a smashed Honey Bee King 3 waiting for some head parts, new blades, new tail boom, balance bar and rear stabilizer - thankfully it was not me that crashed it but I have to buy the parts :mad:. It suffered a boom strike when hovering about 1" off the ground after one of the arms holding the training balls came off and the helo tilted forward - in correcting the rotors hit the boom and then it tried to thrash itself to death. I am surprised we got off so likely with damage.

I bought an R/c heli that looks identical to the one in the vid. Only flown it a few times and can just get it to sorta hover. :)
The models might be able to do a lot of the things a real one can't, except for this:

Things have changed since I used to fly back in the Eighties. If we'd seen that at the Australian Champs when I was a judge, we wouldn't have believed it.
I still have my choppers (about 6 or so) including an Hirobo UH1 Huey I must restore and fly once more.
Do you know a mate of mine, Murray Scott? I used to write for his R/C magazine back in the Eighties. He still flys model helis.Quote:
