Hi Ausfree,
On E-bay yesterday some one showed me a Freelander for $1600--/seven bds 2 days to go. It has blown head gasket. Wondering if this forum will now get someone else who has all the troubles you had :twisted::twisted:
Hi JohnF got your email there's no rush for the marrige thing so don't stress about getting in touch with your friend .. It will happen when it happens..
Thanks for that John, but my FL is a V6 which is not as prone to those problems as the 1.8L four, what I had was a cracked Transmission Cooler which allowed the Coolant into the Auto box causing a very expensive repair, apparently BA Falcons are prone to the same problem!!!:)
Bit more involved than that Banjo, head gasket failure is usually a sympton of slipped cylinder liners which means a rather expensive engine rebuild, thats why it is so cheap.!!!!;) If it is a 1.8L petrol, and it sounds like it, they have a very BAD RECORD for slipped cylinder liners. Wouldn't touch with a barge pole, unless you are going to use it as a project and put a different motor in it!!!!
Speaking of projects, Banjo have a look at this Thread that I have been following closely on the Freelander Section of the Forum, this guy is keen, but he hasn't finished his project yet!!!:)

Actually, I have just had a look at Fleabay and there is an FL1 going for $1000 with a cooked 1.8L motor!!!!:)
