Tony, if on the way up, or the way back you go pass Coolongatta on a week day [except Wednesday] do drop into Coolongatta Library--I most likely will be there and would love to meet you. Look for a good looking Blonde Guy with a beard, in his 60's with a small laptop [Banjo you are not to say it is grey-- I still insist it is blonde, not Grey]
I need to sit down and plan a bit of a route with Brian, I dont even know where Coolongatta is but if i am passing through i will call in
I though there was also an eye problem also. I am writing a book on Alcohol Use, and though I am not a drinker am aware of effects of Alcohol on driving skils after just a glass or so [driving co-ordination, etc., is affected well below the legal limit, as tests on driving simulators, etc., have shown.]
In my early 20's, 1970, I liked a girl, Lorraine, who drank, and went to a party where she was, and did have just a couple of drinks.
I was fine to drive, except on the way home, the steering of my Type 3 VW Station waggon decided to play up and the VW kept mounting the hump in the middle of Parramatta Road--near Parramatta.
So I pulled up and had a sleep in the back. When I woke up my car's steering had fixed itself.
This happened to my VW 3 different occasions, and I vowed never to be under the influence again, and never have been under the influence since.
So I am aware of what just a couple of drinks in moderation can do to you, and am aware you do not normally know what it has done to you.
If you do get to Coolgatta you will find your way to Coolongatta surf club-- from the Airport you will pass one or two other surf clubs--depending on your route before you get to Coolongatta Surf club. There is a pedestrian crossing opposite the surf club. Walk away from Surf club paralel to beach until you reach next pedestrian crossing, and cross it to shops. Go through double glass doors almost opposite that pedestrian cossing and you atre in the building that has the Library at the top of the esculators on the 3rd floor [but Library is moving to different part of the building soon.]
The Library is about 3 km from Highway, if you come up the coast rather than New England Highway.
AndI will admit, from Singleton I would go the New England--but going up one highway, and back the other means you do see more of Australia that way.
I think we will probably go up the pacific but either way I will go up one and down the other. will keep you posted
