Thread: Pics - D2 rear wheel carrier

Looks good, any chance of "automatic" opening with the rear door? My wife thinks it is a hassle to move wheel then door. Also $$$?

Well... We will be working on the D1 version once we clear the D2 from the shed, ideas have been passing the sketch pad for 12 months so it won't take long to get the first model up and running.
We will be offering the rear bars with different options, bar only, bar with single swing away and bar with twin swing away.
The plan is to have the single swing away open with the rear door, we have successfully done this with the defenders but due to the angle of the arc of movement the Disco rear doors take we still have a bit more design and trialling to complete.
As far as pricing goes, I would expect the following :
Rear bar $850
Rear bar with single swing away $1700
Rear bar with twin swing away $2300

How do you get the catches to hold the carriers closed against the bar? They appear to be pulling the carriers away from their pivots rather than towards the bar.

We preload the latch with hardened rubber insulators so positive pressure is applied before its in its resting position. As a result the latch is under tension and the swing away is pulled toward its mating surface. cheers Ben

I've been on the lookout for suitable catches for a RWC that I will build for my D4. I've seen those but haven't been able to work out a way to get them to clamp the bracket against the bar. ARB's style of catch works well but I haven't seen any for sale.
