D3/D4 RRS Redarc SBI12 Dual Battery Tray

    Hi AULRO

I just thought I would post up some pictures of the dual battery system I have developed.

This dual battery tray is made entirely out of stainless steel and designed to work in conjunction with the Exide ORB34DC-48 AGM battery.

I will be offering this kit available for sale through this site in the near future.

    Hi Tombie

I am constantly refining this battery tray. Every time I manufacture a new batch of these trays I make minor changes to improve the fitment and overall appearance of the installation.

We fit these trays for a local Land Rover dealer, quite often in to brand new cars and I simply got tired of the poor quality of the local tray that was the only one available at the time. I wanted something that would look high quality when the customer looked under the bonnet of his brand new car.

Thanks for your positive comment :-)

Some more photo's of the SBI12(D) dual Battery Tray that we fitted to a brand new Discovery late last week. This vehicle is being collected today and has had a few extra accessories fitted.

This vehicle had a Redarc SBI12(D) dual battery system, Redarc remote head electric brake controller, extra accessory sockets to the rear cargo area, a 12 pin trailer plug and two Anderson plugs wired and fitted as per the customers request.

Over the last couple of years we have fitted dozens of these trays using the Redarc SBI12 and the Exide ORB34DC-48 AGM battery and I have not had any problems with any of the systems we have fitted. I have not had one complaint of battery failure, solenoid failure, low battery voltage warning displays on the dash or insufficient cycling time of the battery. Further, we have not had any warranty issues of any description after fitment of this system to brand new vehicles during or after the vehicles warranty period.

Hi, thanks for the post - excellent job. I have a 2008 TDV8 RRS and my second battery is located in the box on the drivers side under the bonnet, however, I think your battery tray would make an ideal platform for mounting an underbonnet compressor - would you sell just the tray for DIY'ers? Thanks

    Hi Marty, thanks for that.

I would sell one of these trays separate from a kit at the moment as I am probably going to combine both the SBI12 tray and the BCDC tray in to one universal tray very soon and I have a few of the old trays left. My plan was to sell the kit complete initially with the tray, battery clamp, isolator, electrical cables etc and see if there was any demand for that.

The base of these trays are made from 2mm stainless steel which make them a little difficult to drill through. You will need very sharp or new drill bits and a cutting compound such as Trefolex to drill through the base. All my trays have been laser cut so I don't usually need to drill them, unless we are adding extra accessories like a continuous duty solenoid or more circuit breakers etc.

I will get back to you soon with a tray only price.

Hi there, was just wondering what you would think the cost on one of these setups would be?

Sorry for the delay in getting back to you on this Marty. I do have a limited number of SBI12 trays that I would sell separately at this stage that I can do for a heavily discounted price of $198.00 each (including GST) plus postage. This price is only until these few trays are all sold. The next batch of trays will be more expensive than this, due to the extra material used in its manufacture and longer labour time to assemble.

Hi BIGV8U, I have just put together a price for the SBI12 complete kit for you.

This kit will include the SBI12 dual battery tray, hold down clamp, 3 hold down bolts and lock nuts, two 2 B&S positive battery cables, one x 2 B&S negative battery cable, positive and negative battery terminal covers, 2 x battery tray securing bolts and a Redarc SBI12 dual battery isolator. The complete kit price is $440.00 including GST plus postage and only while I have stock of this particular tray.

All you will need to buy separately is the Exide ORB34DC-48 orbital battery that fits in this tray.

    Thanks for your interest.
