The Usual Urgent Christmas period breakdowns Have Begun

We have had quiet a few people contact us, with desperate parts needs over the Christmas holiday period already. If we can help, we will. Lots of people traveling are having cooling issues, (lack of pre summer maintenance?) hoses, belts ,expansion tanks, water pumps etc. Since every one else is shut, if they are willing to travel.
    Cheers,
    Mario & Heather

    Pre Travel maintenance?

As usual the Christmas holiday period and the hot weather is taking it's toll on ill prepared vehicles traveling to holiday destinations. We are getting the usual emergency requests for parts where everyone else is shut.
It happens every year, and Christmas falls on the same date every year, so why is it people don't do their maintenance before this time in readiness? It would make their holidays a lot better.
We'll help if and where we can.
    Cheers,
    Mario & Heather

Hey Rangieman, you and I could start up a road side assist/mechanical service this time of the year and charge big money!

People don't prepare because people don't THINK!

Stuff will go wrong o matter how well prepared you are, but it's all about minimising risk & not saying "She'll be Right!"

True, but A spare top Rad hose and Fan belt are must carry items, especially in Summer, when these are put to the test .They ruin holidays when nothing is open and some times not easily sourced.

A problem that is all too common ...

OTOH some folks do prepare, but get let down with incorrect parts coming their way.
Ordered an intercooler for the D1(300Tdi) and received a 200 Tdi version instead!
Obviously wasn't going to fit it as I intend to send it back and (hopefully) get a proper replacement.

Same time last year, my brother's Patrol overheated for 6 hours all the way to Mitta.
I screwed the viscous fan solid as a fix to get us there in a reasonable time, with the idea that we'd source one in a few days in Albury/Wodonga.
Turns out that the fan was coming to pieces too tho when we finally got the chance to get the parts all apart .. and the chances of getting a fan were slim to none, so we patched that with some epoxy just to be sure it didn't come flying apart any time soon.
