I suspect this would be great motivation for the Fijians to lift to another level. I can't help feeling it is an impossible dream for Haynes. But, hey, he has our attention.
Why Hayne probably shouldn

Every now & again you read a feel good story, like one in today's Courier Mail about Sean McMahon, Australian 7's and Wallaby player. He was a skinny 17 year old kid from Nudgee College, Brisbane, unable to break into the big time in rugby, he had the papers to join the Army, all filled out. That was until Anthony and Brett Picone put together a no-name team of kids from Qld, called them the Newstars, and entered them in the Noosa 7's comp. in 2011. The comp had the fijian team, and the Australian 7's side , plus other top class sides, all playing to win. The Newstars beat the Australian side in the final, 25-24. In the newstars were McMahon, Samu Kerevi, Junior Rasolea, Pama Fou, Stephan Van De Walt, all raw talent.
More good news on the Rugby front, is the Ella 7's competition held at Nambucca Heads. The Ella's took a team of indigenous players to New Guinea, for the Pacific Islands comp. Outclassed by players from Tonga and Fiji, they decided something had to be done. I just finished watching NITV coverage of the first Ella 7's comp. held this year. This is going to be a permanent fixture , with indigenous teams from all over Australia coming together to promote rugby, and find new talent. It can only be a positive move, both for rugby, and the young indigenous people involved.
I can't help feeling something of this nature might be beneficial for the kids of Aurukun.

Finally, an Aussie team with the " M " word, hope the Wallabies take note.
Melodie Robinson, a former New Zealand women's rugby great herself and now an expert commentator on the game, made this point about the Aussies before the final: ?Even though they wear ribbons in their hair and look like butter wouldn't melt in their mouths, they are also controlled mongrels on the field with an incredible self-belief.?
