If you don't like trucks, stop buying stuff.
Funny you put this up, Bob, as I was thinking yesterday arvo that out of all the issues we humans are supposed, rightly or wrongly, to have broughr upon this planet, the decline of "Natural Selection " is surely a major blight on the human race, brought about by Government legislation,, do gooders etc. which means we have people among us who " wouldn't " naturally be here and some who " shouldn't " be here.
Steve
These people were way out of their element here, That's why they came to grief .
What I can't understand is why on earth didn't they grab their gear on low tide and set up camp away from the crocks and mossies/sandflies, sleeping on top of the truck in this sort of situation is just stupidity.

As a kid I have seen what crocs will do to get a feed... There is no way I would have been within 200 metres of that shore line, let alone be on that vehicle...
Crocs will try to get onto a boat or swing at you if your near the edge of a vessel...
I watched a croc pull a full size bullock into the water by its back leg, the bullock was screaming that loud it sounded like it was only 10 feet away and we where 300 metres from shore with the main engine running...

I am not advocating abandoning the car, I am saying that moving away from the shoreline and away from the very real danger of getting eaten by a Crock is a far better option in their particular situation and they would still be in the general area so that they could be found and rescued.
In all reality if the crock wanted to feed on those fools then climbing on top of that ute at high tide would present absolutely NO barrier to the crock whatsoever, Moving away from the shoreline is the most effective way to make sure you don't become crock tucker.
Not only would moving off the beach be safer it would also allow the people to find some shade to slow down the effects of dehydration which in reality is the biggest danger facing people in these sorts of situations.
Maybe people that want to venture out of their comfort zone in the city should at least learn a few basic survival skills "Before" they venture out.
