EDIT- Kowloon was where we could find the better quality electrical goods, and some wonderfully carved ivory. I kicked myself because I didn't buy the ivory ball within a ball, within a ball, all carved with Chinese scenes. There we found the Merchant Navy Club, which had one of the best restaurants to be found, cooking European meals. It had a bowling alley, with a bar atop it, and a glass wall to let you watch the bowling. It was an oasis in the frenetic insanity that was the bar area of Wanchai. An ex RAN sailor ran a bar in Kowloon, a popular place. The China Fleet club was an RN watering hole, cheap drinks, in Wanchai, close to the Fleet Landing. Late at night a bit of a blood bath, Hong Kong had something for everyone.
