One or several of Craig's topics had me thinking where this almost revolution in computing will see winners and losers and a micro and macro level.


Security we take for granted is an assumption and will see an arms race as at a Macro level it is a world level game changer.

My tiny brain finds it difficult to cope with all this jiggery pokery, but I understand all that we know will be torn away by the future. It's a progression of the human condition. Quantum theory is mind blowing I agree. Binary code which drives everything we use now ( including our cars) is just Zeros and Ones.

Learning computers keeps changing and changeling. 1980-90s computing in the navy was 8 inch floppies and honestly the cheapest phone now is 1000 time more powerful. The Ted talk and Craigs simple way of discussing a very complex issue is I bet, a topic at Cyber security courses and all universities now.

My car keys are not that smart. My works computing is highly secure and can be taken off line if needed. I will need Quantum encryption
MyHealth Records, Taxation and services such as electricity and water are micro issues. Navy, army, AirForce kit is now highly connected.

Yes, it seems the World is on the cusp of technological advancement never before imagined. It will leave people like me far behind. When you think about the first manned flight, and what's happened since, it took over a normal lifetime of a human to reach this stage. Now we see these achievements that seem to happen in our short life span, who knows what lays ahead. Exciting times for our grandchildren, but me, I'm content to fade away , gracelessly.

The outcomes of it are either:

We acquire enough capability to theoretically solve all mankind’s problems.

We implode... all tech advances have been leading us to where we are now. In a complex, ****ed up society that’s destined to make humans extinct.

Fully agree Tombie. A little like Nuclear power. Abuse as a weapon or a savoir if fusion works



Of interest is fusion research will be significantly enhanced and speeded up by Quantum computing.

a possibly simpler way of understanding Quantum computing
