    English Wheel Work on YouTube

William Longyard has five YouTube clips of Geoff Moss using an English wheel to fabricate a Lotus 11 front panel.

    Part 1 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W6GTMAMUee4
    Part 2 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XbnyUbPq6fI
    Part 3 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3Xl7TrjiwIc
    Part 4 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1MkoKqiYx8s
    Part 5 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JDkVobW1uQY
These clips are just superb and mesmerising to watch.

William Longyard has also filmed Wray Schelin rolling the front section of a Jaguar E-Type mudguard on an English wheel
    Part 1 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fLxk9s0tmcs
    Part 2 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z7T2rWu9NZk
    Part 3 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SeQoxbR_Pmw

Wray Schelin uses log shrinking - gee it looks so destructive that you think the panel is ruined

    Part 4 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nDfXDbadhYo

The amount of weight and the sturdiness of the English wheels used certainly makes other English wheels on the market really look puny in comparison.

I hope you enjoy watching these clips as much as I did. A special thank you to the craftsman involved and to William Longyard for filming and posting up these clips on YouTube.

    Kind Regards
    Lionel

Down in Melbourne here, there used to be a show on C31 that showed a guy doing a lot of this work.
Its really cool to see a good craftsman in action.
He used to also use a wooden block which had like a bean bag on it that he belted with a wooden mallet to help shape stuff.

Thanks for pointing these clips out Lionel.

Wow, that's absolutely amazing. It's like a magician's sleight of hand trick - does he vary the pressure with a foot press? I'm gobsmacked at his spatial & geometrical awareness but I guess that's developed over time. It got me into looking at other panel beating videos - would be a good skill to develop in our line of leisure activities, eh?

The guys on C31 were Peach & Tommasini.
Peach seems to have dropped off the map but Peter Tommasini runs a classic car resto business in Bayswater.

The Peach and Tommasini set of DVDs is still available as far as I know. I recently bought a pristine set off ebay. (SH) They're excellent.
