Hi Scott, I use the one on the left, very easy to use. Get yourself some Knipex brand side cutters also to trim the stainless band excess.

why don't you just buy some suitably sized worm drive clips (Jubilee clips for those of my vintage). Cheap as chips and only need a screwdriver to tighten and loosen and most importantly, reuse.

I have thought of that but I've found a few issues with it's application:

Generally they are wider than the CV clamps. There is usually a groove in the rubber boot for the clamp to sit, when they're too wider it overflows this.

Also the worm drive mech part sticks up high and can foul. For example, on my D2a with the Ashcroft HD CV's the worm drive mech would foul on the nut for the upper ball joint and the top of the bottom ball joint.

Also not sure what, if any, effect the unbalanced weight from the worm drive mech might have when it's spinning so fast?

The proper CV clamps only cost $4.00 to $5.00 depending on style, and they usually last for years.
