Most of the items I've purchased have been okay, although I did take the air compressor back for a refund.

The awning seems okay and today I purchased a hand cable puller. I'll keep it under the driver's seat just in case

Like most here have experienced, their stuff is mid priced home/hobby quality. But that's ok in my book if you do your research!
It's all about knowing what you are actually buying in the tin, not what it says on the tin.
For example, I was looking for a second computer so before I purchased the Aldi one for sale this week, I spent 15 min researching it and reading various reviews. Turns out that it is quite highly regarded at it's price point and ticks off many of the features I require. Those that it doesn't are upgradeable. So I bought one - knowing what it was!

FWIW, I also believe the paving/rock/cement breaker on offer is 'reasonable value for money' for the home handyman, steer clear if you intend to throw it in a construction van and earn a living from it.

To be fair, I am lucky in that I am a Tradesman/Engineer and have a bit of knowledge in what I am looking for. For example, I generally know what spec auto wiring should be, so get alarmed when 'cheaper' stuff has lesser wiring.

Other than that, I think it's prob better stuff than the cheapie stuff on offer elsewhere 5-10 years ago.

    Cheers
    Ralph

Have bought quite a bit over the years, mostly good.Bad one was a cordless power tool set.Saw,recipro saw.drill, jigsaw and light.L ion batteries.Saw,usesless, soon as you start cutting anything other than paper the overload cuts out.Recipro saw, better but still verv slow to cut.Drill not too bad, delay when you start.jigsaw,ok for very light work.Light fine.

I am writing this post on an Aldi PC. 4 years on and not a drama. Only problem was a bung video card approx 3 months back, which is to be expected given its use.
Not everyone should be suckered into the latest and greatest products. I see it every day where someone thinks they need the trade quality gear, only to find out that they are likely to use it '4 times a year'. Weighing up the expected lifesapn, warranty periods and price, the payback period is much more attractive on the cheaper items (consider 'cost per use').

A bloke on my work crew has one of their hammer drills that's copped a fair beating pushing up to 26mm bits and it's still going strong. Their 9" diamond blades are good value and I've got a 3/8" air ratchet that's pretty good. Avoid the carpenters pencils.

2000w inverter gen set nxt wek

I see Aldi are selling a 2000W 4 stroke inverter gen. set next week 20 Sept with a 3 yr warranty for $499. Also a "stirling" 40L car fridge with a "Danfoss" compressor for $449... depending on the noise level of the gen set could be interested.

PS: I've had a couple of their 2 tonne electric scissor jacks for a couple of years. Have used them probably a dozen times or more and they have been excellent. Need to keep them well lubed. I use them to get the P38 to desired height then put jack stands in place straight away.

They are dangerous and should have been subject to a safety recall. Mine failed long ago but has just gone into the recycle bin this week.

Hi I bought one of their 2.2kV gen sets 8 years ago hoping it would last a couple of years. It's still going strong. I have replaced the pull rope and the fuel line. 4 years after buying it I thought it was good value so bought another one as a spare for when this one failed, as they only come on sale every 6 months or so and I rely on it for a remote property, the spare that I bought is still unopened in its box waiting for the first one to die. Cheers Rob
