Well after 20 years of trouble free sthil owner ship i felt it was time to update
My poor old saw is a 024 AV 41cc 16" bar purchased brand spankers never a problem with it but up the bush i felt that sometimes it was out of its league it still runs like a ripper but felt power wise and bar size it seemed like it was left wanting at times.
The old

Been thinking of a newbe for a while , I even thought seriously of a other brand but being a Landy Tragic it scared me so not wanting too upset the die hards of other brands i decided on the devil i know
I decided on a sthil MS291 55cc 18" bar which was a realy good deal new carry case spare chain and a litre of sythetic 2- oil all thrown in

SubscriberNice looking saw i have a bit of Stihl gear and love it great stuff they make and i hear their chainsaws are pretty hardy machines!
Well my first saw has lived up to that reputation . In saying this i did do alot of research at the time with all the brands around then and it all came back to the sthil
Considering the old saw still works and still runs very well with only air filter cleaning , spark plugs changed , chain sharperning and numerous bars and chains and sprockets replaced it has been a absolute gem hence buying another

SupporterI am not convinced the new Stihls are as good as the old ones. they seem a lot lighter construction and a friend has already has trouble with the air filter on his new Stihl not sealing correctly.
Check the air filter design carefully.
I would consider a Husqvarna chainsaw next time I need one, but my little saw is only 16 years old and has a lot of life left in it.
