    Slide hammer/puller kit

    Hey guys,
looking at buying a kit around the $150-200 mark for general use on the rovers. Overwhelmed with the options so any recommendations appreciated.

I would stay away from the screw type if you mean the type that you have to put a screw in the panel and pull on that - then you have a hole to weld up afterwards after the screw pulls out before the dent is pulled out. Go to auto body 101, their is a section on their regarding slide hammers and puller bars.
If you are handy you can make one easily from a set of vice grips by welding on a long bar to the adjustment screw, all you need is a heavy weight as a slider on the bar. You tack weld a piece of flat steel to the panel and attach the vice grips to it.

A slide hammer wont pull a balancer off or any tdi pulleys, stick to a proper 3/4 bolt puller for that.

Looking at universal kit for both. Something like this ebay kit. But it will mainly used for mechanical work. If better to buy a kit specifically for mechanical I will do that.

I realise that and have the bolt puller. More for things like lt230 output shaft bearings.
