    Makita DCS90, 9010

Does anyone know which manufacturer makes the Makita DCS9010 (90cc chainsaw). I'm looking for an ignition module which is hard to find and I'm thinking that perhaps there may be an alternative under another brand.

    Ideas welcomed

Makita, or more correctly, Makita own Dolmar, who make it in Germany. (The DCS part of the model name = Dolmar Chain Saw I believe)
Makita Australia dropped the Dolmar name here a few years back, they are all Makita saws now.

You can also probably source that part from a Solo dealer too, as the Solo saw is a rebadged Makita/Dolmar with a few cosmetic differences.

Why are you having trouble getting bits, the DCS9010 is a current model ?

    I'm a Solo dealer and that's news to me ! ??

None of the Solo saws I've sold even remotley resemble the Makita units we've had through the workshop ... or the older Dolmars we see from time to time ...

... guess I should go ask the question !

The big 90cc Solo is a Dolmar, the covers, etc are different.

The 681 uses a few Dolmar parts too, e.g. clutch, it's a similar design to the 64/73/7901 Makita.

Tamworth Chainsaws and Mowers in Peel St are Makita/Dolmar dealers and have been for something like forty years.

A normal Makita tools dealer like Gasweld can get bits (and saws) too, which isn't fair on the dedicated OPE dealers.

I used to get some bits from the US, but the excellent dealer I dealt with no longer does intenet sales

Thanks Rick, I have had some unhappy experiences with the above mentioned firm, I have phoned Chaffeys in at the Co-op this morning and they are looking into it for me.

I even tend to now get Husky parts in Muswellbrook.

Fair enough, I tend to go elsewhere too.
