    if you want.

I have friends out at Karlgarin who I expect to visit often. Williams is only a short detour on the way out of Perth. I'm willing to bring the welder but hope you'd have some Argon with your MIG.

    Happy Days.

I had a cheaper Chinese unit (Boss brand) for a while and it worked for a bit but it was really hard to use well. The arc wandered and was inconsistent, getting it to start was a pain and I was constantly hunting to get the settings right.

You can get a good cheap TIG but it wont be AC and it wont have HF. To get a half decent welder with those you're looking at over 2 grand minimum, 4 for something that is nice to use.

I ended up chucking my Chinese TIG as it was just no good and I never got a satisfactory weld with it.

From the info gained here and in the TIG thread I will use steel instead of the ally.
I spoke to the boiler maker in town today,he didnt think ally was the go,also said its not nice to bend in the press brake at 6mm thick. If the quality isnt good it can split, and will be hard to weld.

Yeah, you'll end up with fractures in it at that thickness in a press break. If you can tolerate the weight, steel would be the go. Heaps easier from every angle.
If you need to contact me please email homestarrunnerau@gmail.com - thanks - Gav.

    Cheers Joel.
Im going to use steel, ally is too much of an issue, plus I would still need to learn how to weld again.
    Thanks for the offer.
