We have that exact unit. They're good! The old style unit that Hafco had was also really good.

Edit, ahh sorry, no, ours is the single scissor action unit, not the double scissor action unit you're looking at. That said, I'd expect that it is just as good.

I have had one for the last 4 or 5 years and find it invaluable for shifting the odd heavy items for work. Don't tell worksafe, but I also use it as a platform (with the wheels locked) to change some light globes.

There is also a red painted version being sold by two eBay retailers in Australia. Funny how one is selling their item for $80 freight and the other one is charging $249 freight. The Machinery House one in the photograph is also charging just $80. Me thinks one supplier is cashing in on the cost of freight somehow! I have emailed them the other two companies' freight charges. Wonder if I get a reaction - even a polite one! Teehee. Either TradeTools or the other 'Tools' mob have a similar version available locally too. So by the time I make a special order and pick-up from the shop the cost might see the local mobs just a bit dearer overall for the convenience of not having to pay freight.

After doing some comparisons online the ideal deal would be the eBay seller with the $200 plus freight - if only they bought the freight down to the other supplier's $80. This is because their base product price is less expensive than all the other suppliers. Apparently, they make their mark-up by over charging on freight. Looks like all the units come from the same factory in China and only the paint jobs and transfers are different. Oh by going with the dearer Machinery House or either TradeTools options at least they are reputable companies and they offer a locally accessible warranty. If things go wrong the extra cost might be worth it and the cheaper options represent a possible risk if things go wrong with the unit. Ipso facto & Caveat emptor

I just tried to claim the 'price match' offer between two tool shops who have local agents. Remember how I said that different suppliers have the exact same specifications and the only difference is their paint jobs and brand stickers. Here is the response I received back from one mob this afternoon...

Thank you for contacting . As advised—our policy indicates, should you find a lower advertised price for the identically stocked product elsewhere, we will happily match the price.

Unfortunately, given the below (bolded items) we are unable to process this price match.

For eligibility, the following terms and conditions need to be met;

• Product must be identical (same brand, colour, model #)

Always a loop hole - please kindly forget that the items come from the same factory in China and only the paint jobs and stickers are deliberately made different to stop people like you trying to save money.

They were the dearer of the two local mobs - so unless I get a positive response from the heavy frieght mob from eBay - I will go to the cheaper of the two local blokes. Well you will never know if you don't ask - aye!

I've had a single scissor version for over ten years and it is rated to 500kg, it has performed perfectly over that period lifting engines and transmissions up to the four post hoists rolling lifting beams height so that they can then be lifted into position when the vehicle is on the hoist.

Ever wondered why the big green hardware store has a very slightly different part number on the box of an otherwise identical item sold elsewhere?

there are 2 other version of it.

1 has a collapsing handle so you can lay the handle down flat and still use it to manouver the trolly around, damn near perfect for installing transmissions.

the other has a removable handle so you can store it under your workbench/racking.

Be careful if you get the former, the handle has been known to not engage vertically correctly and when you go to stop the thing, the handle folds down.


and as always make sure, if your loading it lifted, the loads not over the handle when you lower it.

The different model number has been on going since model numbers were invented for the reasons you have guessed. The manufacturers work with the retailers to provide the different model numbers on the otherwise same item. Have seen it as obvious as the first letter of the retailers named added to the model number. Just has to be enough that they do not have come good on their price match
