the only effective ones Ive found are the large cartridge ones with the silicone mask, you have to slather your beard in vasaline to get a seal....
that or fork out for a positive displacement mask with a blower and filter.
Good luck
Hello All,
Can anyone with a beard recommend a respirator that they have found effective during spray painting? Other than the full helmet and drawstring collar that gets tied off low down the neck. The paper masks do not cut the mustard. I used to have a twin cartridge respirator but it perished and is now unserviceable.
No, holding my breath is not an option either. Just thought I would get that one in first.
Kind regards
Lionel

....agree Dave
I used to know some bearded scuba divers who used silicon lube (every scuba diver has some)on their beard and mask seal....apparently vasso or petroleum jelly is not. friendly to your mask.
the new full face mask/snorkel combos. may do the trick at a favourable price....consult your nearest dive shop

Hello All,
I am sure that one of the agricultural spraying mobs such as Silvan used to sell a specialist spray hood that could be incorporated with a twin cartridge respirator. It might have even featured the respirator into the hood as a single unit. The hood continued its length down past under a shirt's collar and under the shoulders. From there one of those CSI type of overalls could be worn. I checked last night and I could only find calico spray painter's hoods they could be suitable if the respirator could seal against the calico. Not keen on the idea of gelling up.
Kind regards
Lionel
