    Show & Tell

We had a 'show & tell' at the local Woodwork Club.
Last week I took down a selection of wood planes, this week adjustable spanners.

The attached picture has a few of my collection (hoard ?).

The Thurley Grip-All I got in the UK, I'd never seen one before. Just found a number on Ebay !
The large one above it doesn't have a makers name, I've used it in anger fairly recently.
Above that is a Plumb adjustable from the 30's.
The Abingdon King Dick with the additional pieces screwed onto the jaws I got from an Army Disposals years ago, it was still wrapped in greased paper. Ebay threw up a number for sale, apparently they are for Plessey Connectors.
The small adjustable on the right has a Jaguar logo, made by Garrington. Turns out it was used in an E type tool kit (and probably other Jaguars).
Beside it is a 'Jackdaw' also by Garrington.
There are some King Dick copies a Lucas Girder plus copies, miniature water pump pliers .......

There are still more in toolboxes, mostly King Dick. I have a nice McEwans (Made in Japan) that gets some use plus of course several Sidcrome.
Years of visiting Boot Sales in the UK & Trash & Treasure Markets here. For some reason the wife thinks I have a problem.

I'm sure some people despise adjustables but they have their place.....

    Hi Colin,
    thank you for sharing.
our father, long gone, had a King Dick in the tool box, that he was fond of.
Dad’s name was Richard, Nick-named “Dick”, which my brother and I secretly changed to “King Dick” when he was being bossy and wouldn’t let us do whatever it was we wanted to do….
RIP Dad. Thank you for teaching us how to look after tools.
    best, jeff.

I can never figure out their problem in that respect.

Technically I don't have one of them any more ... but being together for 'years now' .. may as well be.
But the previous one I had, always seemed to be of the same opinion too ... at the merest mention of the word 'tool' out my mouth ... and Geezuz! .. it's armageddon.

Surely I can't be wrong about this!

I personally don't have issues with adjustables .. tools are tools and as long as it gets a job done
    Arthur.

All these discos are giving me a heart attack!
