Is this the one you got a couple of 2 for $20?

    Kind regards

yes, They come up on special from time to time and sometimes are bundled with other items where getting the torch drops the cost of the bundled item to lower than the original cost of the bundled item (say a $200 battery bank by itself or the battery bank and the torch for $195) Dont ask me how that works but it is what it is.

Its weird what gets offered. The biggest tool kit I grabbed yesterday for $99 is showing right now as I type this on the land rover forum for $169 + $18 postage and handling. Yesterday is was $99.

I prefer the $99 amount myself

thats the wand light, it is the yard stick by which every other hand held work light is measured, its the near perfect balance of cost, battery life, quality of light, weight, size, attachability and functionality. The only thing it lacks is the hinged body/light configuration of its predecessor, this is offset by the magnetic base is now on a ball pivor which is better than nothing but not as good as being able to fold the light at the top of the battery compartment.

so as part of getting some other new stuff and some discounts I got some of the following,

    Home Page - Adventure Kings

This is a good little unit, the light comes off the tripod and has a hook a magnet and the lights are near enough completely rotatable to light up your engine bay just right. IT will charge and run at the same time on minimium power and reverts to minimum power on white or orange light if its on and you plug it in to charge. The only thing wrong with it is the battery life, It would be useful if when the lights were folded down they turned off to get more life from the battery, Runs for about 6 hours on low, just under 4 on high in either the white or yellow light modes. wierdly its got a smaller battery than the next torch

The tripod fits the projector and its got a good range of height adjustment.

this isnt bad but for engine bay work its not quite as good as the wand type light in my opinion, it wont charge and run at the same time, everytime you turn it on and it always starts on the brightest setting for either the area light or the torch, and you have to cycle it down, the orange light only has one setting, its not bad, if the light power cycle was low to high Id be a lot happier with it, as it doesnt stand as tall as the wand light its not quite as usefull for lighting up an area of an engine bay due to the shadows it casts. ITs a lot more robust, has a longer run time, more light options charges in about the same time as the wand. Its going to replace the wand light as the one I carry everywhere as its easier to carry and has better water protection. But its not going to replace the wand as my preferred work light.

The head torch rechargable with a motion sensor..

about the best thing about this is it has the red light, but then I've never really liked using head torches. For a head torch it does what I expect a head torch to do, its useful as a general torch, Im pretty sure I can find a use for the motion sensor function but my brief experimenting with it has my opening feeling that as a function for mechanicing its going to be more frustrating than useful as it turns off or on every time I sweep the sensing beam past my hand or arm.

    And thats the rainge.

I got option A from Dave's list, only it's branded Calibre and I got it from one or other of the red tool sheds. Got a 'Waukee head lamp which is awesome but lacks the motion sensor, and of course you pay the 'Waukee tax, but mine was a gift.

Also got a couple of different Aldi ones, which are fine but I have replaced the 18650s in them to get decent time out of a charge. Still cheap, as I had some tool quality cells left over from a project.

Your right, those kings worklights are the best lights I've ever used for under-bonnet use. I had to pull the gearbox out of a little modern fwd hatchback yesterday. Those things are incredible the way you can stick the point (illuminating end) down into the depths of the engine bay to light up fasteners and wiring connectors. It doesn't tend to get in the way of your hands/tools like larger lights do. its so lightweight it doesn't fall over and refuse to stay in position like most lights too.

Yep, and it is also great for under dash fiddling, something I had hoped to grow out of. Bright, but can be placed so as not to blind you. Battery lasts a bloody long time too, well my Calibre one does, and I'd say it's the same thing.

    Hello Double Chevron,

    Me too!

I am glad I held off from when Dave first posted. There was no discount or deals then. It would have stung a bit to read a couple of weeks later about the current deal!

    Kind regards
    Lionel
