Treg coupling on a Hayman Reese type receiver?

Does anyone know if you can get a Treg coupling that's connected directly to a Hayman Reese type 50mm square receiver?

The only couplings I've seen to date have the Treg coupling bolted onto the standard tongue in the hole where the towball would otherwise be.

If possible I'd perfer to have it as one piece that attaches into the 50mm hitch receiver.

Thanks in advance for your replies.

    Cheers, LandieMan

Why? What advantage would you derive from having a dedicated treg/Hayman Reese setup, I have a Treg bolted to my stock H/R towball tongue, which gives me the option of removing the Treg and bolting the standard 50mm ball back on when I need to tow my box trailer, Regards Frank.

Not that I have seen or know of, I just have 2 - one with the standard towball, and one with the AT35 hitch part permanently bolted on. This suits me as I have a different height requirement for campertrailer and normal / rental car trailer drawbars. The ball version is a lower one, the AT35 higher.

    Hi LandieMan,

I am pretty sure there is a dedicated Tregg type lug. I will do some research tomorrow and come back to you. In the meantime you could check with your local Hayman Reese agent.
An option would be to buy another lug and fit your Tregg to it. Just a case of sliding in the desired lug to suit the towing requirement of the day.
( and it may be cheaper that way too )

    Cheers Frank, a fair question.

I guess the main reason is that it would look a bit tidier which arguably isn't a particularly good reason. The other is that once the bolt on a towball is torqued up I'd rather leave it and use the H/R receiver attachment to swop between towball and treg (if it's required) rather than unbolting the ball/treg each time.

We're doing a big trip around Aussie so all we'll be towing for the next year is a Treg (unless we have to pull a Toyota or Nissan out of a hole ) so I thought it would be a good purchase if one was available.

    Thanks for your comment.

    Cheers, LandieMan

I towed the Kamper around Australia last year with a Treg hitch in place of the ball. I threw the ball in the toolbox incase I needed to tow anything else and also had a recovery receiver to put in if needed.

At home I have accumulated 4 tow hitches so I just swap them over when required.

Can't see why you'd want it permanently fixed to the receiver

    Smile

One very good reason to want the Treg coupling directly on the Hayman Reece mount is to remove another nut that could come undone; and to reduce distance from pivot to tow vehicle, and reduce weight.
I have this arrangement, but made it myself.

I do the same as Justin - I just have a couple of them with 1 fitted for ball and the other fitted for treg.
