I've got a hitch tube on the back of my camper. Purely to take a bike rack though. Not strong enough for anything else.
I have been going through some ideas for attaching different things on the back of our camper trailer and was wondering if anyone else has bolted/welded a Hayman Reece style receiver under the rear of their trailer?
The trailer is quite heavily constructed: http://www.aulro.com/afvb/1321623-post8.html and I would have no qualms doing winch or light snatch recoveries from the back of it with a recovery hitch installed.
I'm about to get a bike carrier that goes into a 50mm square receiver that we can either mount on the back of the truck or the trailer.
And finally I thought about making up a tray or something with a receiver attachment for collecting firewood with when camping (not in National Parks of course)
Anyone see any issues with these ideas? or better yet have one they could show me pics of?![]()

Where do you get the bike racks from for the hitch receivers? I've been trying to find them here in Albury but all I can find is the ones that go around the ball.....
My bikerack isn't a fancy one, just a normal fold down one that has the bracket that goes under the ball on your towbar tongue that I fit in the receiver on the trailer or Disco.
If it's a treg hitch into a normal hayman reece receiver then it'll be fine as long as you don't go overboard.
I've used it quite often on the back of trak shak and Defender/Prado and it's been fine. However I certainly haven't been flooring it in 3rd gear or similar.
As said before a light snatch should be ok but line everything up straight or I think it would be easy to flip the trailer,I did a trip with 2 other vehicles all towing,we had the idea that if someone had troubles eg clutch,we could hook up one trailer behind another, never tried it though.
It works Ok - I've done it a couple of times over the years collecting wood. It's totally illegal now days apparently, but it can be done!
Cheers
Chris
