4 mm is heaps unless your trailer is 48 ft long

Gday
Took delivery of my electric brakes for me tandem trailer today.
After a bit of a mix up I ended up with 4x 12" Drums. So a brake to each wheel
It should just stop just nicely
I'm just after some advice on wire size when it comes to wiring in both the controller and trailer?
The wires coming out of the drums look to be about 4mm and the controller I was going to get off ebay comes with an optional wiring kit which uses 6mm dual core
When I quizzed the bloke on eBay he told me it was to limit the voltage drop over that distance. But won't there be a huge voltage drop when it goes through the trailer plug?
Thanks

there will be some drop at the plug but its nothing you can do anything about anyway.
less voltage drop is better and you get that with thicker cable...
Of course wiring it up with 1 gauge wire like youd put on a winchathon vehicles winch would be overkill.
