    Brake controller wire up.

I have just fitted a Tekonsha IQ Brake controller to my P38 and am not totally content with the wiring. I have run the Pos+ direct to the battery via a fuse as per instructions. Earth cable to unit. Run cables from the rear of the car to the controller for brake light signal and the blue Brake power feed from the unit back to the trailer socket.
My concerns are the unit is always powered up, there is no switch. Should I have connected it to a switched supply. A bigger concern is the Blue cable I have run from the unit to the trailer socket is nice and thick. It is connected to the blue in theTail of wires pre-wired to the socket. These wires are all terribly thin and dont look up to the task to me. Its a Narva socket, Should I be concerned with the thin wires.

You have wired it up correctly.
It needs to be powered up all the time, Safety feature.
Say you start rolling with the key off , Put foot on & trailer brakes will work.

Current draw from the Tekonsia is negligible & will not contribute to a battery going flat.

The brake magnets will still energise OK , they don't draw much current but I would continue the thick blue wire all the way to the Trailer Socket

Thanks, I have continued the blue wire to the socket. On first glance the socket looked sealed up in the factory however it came apart quite easily to remove the old and attach the new thicker blue. I am glad I got it open as the internals were green with verdigris so I cleaned and re-terminated all the other wires. Will be picking up my 1st ever Camper Trailer from the dealer on Thurs.
