Electronic Stability Control (ESC) on Caravan

    Hi all

Just order my Van today and was offered ESC as an option. Since I'm ordering a D4 to tow it I didn't think, with the Trailer Stability on the D4, it would need it.

Now it's got me thinking that maybe it might not be a bad idea.

What are people's views on the Stability system on the Land Rover and would it be over kill or wasted expense, fitting ESC on the Van?

    Cheers Scott

I wondered this myself when it first came out.

Having watched the video's when it first was released I decided that when it became available I would get it retro fitted. As of yet suppoesedly they don't do retro fits but will soon.

My next van even if I have a D4 will be ordered with it.

    cheers,
    Terry

Placing it on the order, it can't hurt to have that added safety.

From what I've read on it it appears to be the ducks guts for towing. Sure would'nt mind it on mine!

Clever lateral thinking but pretty simple technology, I would basically imagine a tekonsha or similar pendulum brake controller mounted sideways. Same as the forward mounted one on under your dashboard not only uses brake pedal input but also has a pendulum (of sorts) to detect decelleration and applies the trailer brakes accordingly.

would be good only if you could turn it off, imagine it would be constantly applying the brakes in a dirt road situation
