I haved a D1 5door with front end damage to it which I had purchased for the diffs for a different project.
Once the diffs have been removed, instead of wrecking the rest of the vehicle I thought what would the possibility of turning it into a trailer.
Once engine, transmission and transfer case removed bend in the frame rails to make the draw bar.
I would have to put a different axle and brakes under it. The firewall would also need to be modified, and a small "tool" box could be made on the front of the draw bar.
Could be set up inside a bit as a camper.
My initial concerns is the weight on the draw bar and balance of the whole thing.
How would you go with registration?
Any thoughts / ideas / complications?

I toyed with the idea of doing this to a pajero I wrecked and then thought that a d2 would look awsome. Was going to cut it I think (from memory) somewhere in front of the back doors or depending how it all weighted at the front doors, was going to be trial and error a bit. I wanted to make into a camper with a bed inside with slideout draws and storage under it, remove the rear door restrictor so can open all the way and have fridge slide out there and a rooftop tent on top so to sleep 4 off the ground. I wanted to leave the factory fuel tank in it giving awesome range without fueling up (180 litres total). I would still love to do it but I'm no welder and its not economical to pay to get it done. I could forsee balance issues having fuel hanging on the back but was thinking a water tank and big heavy toolbox mounted on the drawbar """might""" over come it?.
Fabricating a front on it and having a caravan sliding window in there for more ventilation. Making flywires for the back door windows and an awning out the side and rear of it. The big problem I hadn't figured out was """brakes""" I was going to leave the rear diff in to use as an axle and how to work the brakesIt probably wouldn't be light but neither is a caravan and at least you know this will almost go anywhere. Also had other ideas with it and can visualise it finished but comes down to the mighty dollar unfortunately, it would be a great unique camper. I did have drawings and plans for it but my puter got fried before chrissy and I lost it all
