    Lunette sizes

    Hi Mark,

The original Land Rover hitches were designed for thinner lunettes. The body of the ring - the thickness - used on the army lunettes is 1 5/8"(about 40mm) and generally won't fit and even if they will fit where someone has ground them they are likely to jam. Some people even used to knock out the angle piece at the back that is another one of the limiting dimensions. Using mismatching sizes of tow attachments and lunette rings is very dangerous for on road use.

The Track trailer does have a lunette.

    You can buy combination towball/pintles.

Track trailers do have rotating lunettes. The hitch is a standard pattern off the shelf unit with a minor mod for the brakes.
It would be an easy job to replace the hitch with another type.
