    VE Commodore Wheel Studs

I am putting brakes on my trailer. It has a Commodore wheel stud pattern and I ordered the brakes accordingly but it was only then that I found out I actually had the VE Commodore stud pattern and wheels on the trailer. Same stud pattern as older Commodores but the studs are 14mm instead of 12mm so the brakes I bought have 12mm studs and using the standard nuts the nuts could loosen.

I thought I could remove the old smaller studs, drill the holes to take the larger studs and put them in. So I googled VE Commodore studs and sellers want $5 each plus $10 each postage making it an expensive affair.

So my simple question is - can I tap out the 14mm studs out of my old hubs and after enlarging the stud holes in my new brake drums press the 14mm studs into them?

    Thanks

Try BSA Wheels, only 5min down the road from my work.

Give them a ring, I can pick them up for you if you want.

Thanks Baz but I will be right - I have developments.

    Assumptions - don't make them.

As the trailer stud pattern is commodore, it has VE commodore wheels with the larger wheel stud holes, and the wheels studs are larger than normal commodore I "assumed" the studs were VE.

At my local caravan shop yesterday and going through the studs inthe box and spotted one that was about right - but was not commodore VE but Falcon. Bought one for $3 and yep - matches what it on my hub. Falcon studs are only a tad less in diameter than the VEs.

Also learned that the small trailer holden studs and the larger falcon studs have the same size splines on them - so all I have to do is knock out the small holden studs on the new brake up and knock in the new falcon studs - no drilling required.

Hmmmm - it pays to fully do your homework before buying stuff and don't make assumptions.

    Thanks for everyones advice.
