Yep the old Golf has one,
After much coercion (from she who will remain nameless) I lit the heater.
and then sat and had a think.
It obviously heats a tank?
The tank is again obviously pumped into either the shower or external shower----- and is refilled as required by??? water from the water tanks? by the one water pump?
at this stage I turned the gas off, shut the hatch and opened a beer.

The Isuzu 110. Solid and as dependable as a rock, coming soon with auto box😊
The Range Rover L322 4.4.TTDV8 ....probably won't bother with the remap..😈
this might help, relevant page from my caravan handbook.
most vans would use this system
in this case the "Suburbain" 22.6 litre storage tank is part of the hot water heater itself, as it is in most caravans.
yea,, thats pretty much how I thought,,
just not certain that the pump is in any way attached to the tank!or how it pressures the hot water to travel to the shower head
am really not keen on heating up an "empty" tank.

We have a truma in our new van, just read the instructions and will need to read a few more times to understand.
It does say to switch on water pump and run the hot tap first which fills the boiler before starting it up.![]()
