    Tyres for my trailer

    Gday all,

Ive got a camping trailer that I am refurbishing. As part of the process I am ditching the toyota wheels that I have had on it and am replacing the hubs and wheels with Landy ones. Ive got the rims now, and am looking for advice on tyres to suit.

Whats the concensus on trailer tyres? I spend a fair bit of time on the dirt, more in a touring capacity than a bush bashing one.

    Looking forward to your opinions.

    JB

Oh, and if anyone has tyres in good nick to suit please let me know.

ATs would be a minimum I reckon, I have muds(BFG KM2s) on my camper, mainly because I already had them.

There are a fair few for sale in the markets, in all sizes and types.

    Baz.
    Cheers Baz.

Just down this on my trailer. Gone for a set of A/T's on mine. It had some 750 16's on it which are getting hard to get, so I got an equivalent sized A/T - can't remember what size that worked out to and I'm away at the moment, so I can't go and have a look, but they were only about 3mm difference in diameter. I still have a very good 750 16 I have kept for a spare.

Browsed the marketplace, no luck there.

ATs would be perfect. If worst comes to worst Ill buy em new. I need 4. (2 on the trailer and two spares).

Anyone have a good resource for trailer land rover hubs in sydney? Or do I weld and redrill the ones already on there as my father suggests?

I thought the Defender/D1 pattern was off the shelf ALKO item and available almost everywhere.

If you have the necessary skills, by all means redrill & tap if your hubs have sufficient diameter & meat to accomodate the LR pitch circle.

... and yes- use the same tyres as your car (as Kevin B suggests).

Yep, I agree - in a perfect world. Doesn't quite work with mine as I tow it with the 101...

Would it be possible to match trailer hubs for a 101, never seen it but it would look awesome..
