    WDH for LR4

    Hi there,

We have recently purchased an LR4 with air suspension and a new Jayco Expanda caravan.

Just want to know from you guys whether we can run....or do we need....a weight distribution hitch to tow the van, or will the suspension sort itself out?

    Thanks in advance

Lots of Disco 3 +4's towing caravans

The Land Rover has lots of electronics to keep you on the straight and narrow--
but these are for not-normal situations..

You need to show some common sense in the way you load the van.

Your manual will confirm WDH is not to be used with the air suspended D3/D4. If your require a different ball height to that on LR lug, you can source Hayman Reese lugs of varying heights, or look up Mitch Hitch on this forum. The suspension will compensate for your ball weight and maintain your suspension height. There should not be any issue towing an Expanda. They are on the lighter end of the weight scale. As already indicated, load your weight sensibly and watch your tyre pressures.

Firstly unless you bought your car in the US you have a Discovery 4 or D4 not an LR4

Secondly do a search in the D3/D4/RRS section, there has been a lot of discussion there about WDHs basically they are expressly forbidden by Land Rover AFAIK, but there are a couple of people who have used them although most don't.
