Im currently completing my Camper Trailer project.
Designing a solar panel array at the moment.
Anybody got pics of their 3x120W or similar setups.Mine needs to slide over the tent during transport then be able to tilt forward, left and right.
I did a mock up of left/right that will work OK,would like the 3rd movement.
The old fella that is helping me complete the project insists on a swivel mount, cant make him understand the tent will prevent swivelling and will always create shade from the trailer.
Would love to see your pics.

Andrew,
My Crossover came with a fixed 105W panel that tilts upwards. It was only useful when parked in the open and during certain parts of the day.
I never park in the open and the panel was not much use and my batteries would run out of charge within a couple of days. Everybody suggested more panels to make up for the deficiency of the original but I wanted to get the main panel working properly before investing in more solar arrays.
I made the fixed panel removable and EUREKA, my main panel now keeps the battery charged for ever as long as the sun shines. I'm not sure how I will fare when there is no sunshine and suspect that I will then require additional panels but to date, I have just existed quite happily with a single panel.
I am looking at a flexible panel as they are light and easy to store - I also have an additional solar input point to accept another panel and wiring will not be required.
The main message is, follow the sun with your panel and you will get between 4 and 5 Amps input from a single 105W panel fro most of the day.
I collected a mixture of aluminium extrusions from the city today, have a plan made.
Roughly a permanent fixed steel mini roof rack on the headboard of the trailer, its top around 600mm x the trailer width, this is also jerry can storage.3 x 120W panels to be made into 1 single panel on a frame.
I bought 40x40x6mm angle to form a frame to support/reinforce the panels.Under the frame will be 2 runners made from 50x25x3mm RHS(alum) fixed to the frame.I got 32x25x3mm channel to fix to the roofrack, this will allow the panels to slide forward and back into a camping and transport position, and also the ability to tilt the panels toward the front of the trailer to get better solar collection.
After great thought,I came up with an ingenious way of tilting the panels to the left or right if needed.I bought 25x3mm tube to make cross braces, the perfect fittings for this, boat bimini fittings.Just need to aquire some(stainless) ex Ebay. They will be fixed to the rack and the panels both sides, simply fit the cross braces to the side that has the sun.
If anybody is ever chasing aluminium extrusions,DONT visit that big hardware chain.I got mine from Capral Aluminium(Aussie wide),their price per 6.5m length was slightly cheaper than the hardware stores 3m lengthsPlus they cut the lengths in half for free to enable me to get it on the D2 roofrack
