    Wide versus narrow tyres

    This has been discussed many times on the other parts of the forum when relating to Land Rovers, but with trailers there must be some opinions and experiences. I know the logistic advantages of having all the same size and type of tyre and rim.

    Also is there any advantage of having mud terrain tyres on a trailer other than the abovementioned logistics?

    Maybe not very helpful but my personal experience.

    I have a CUB that runs 165x14 Light truck tyres.

    Pros
    Light to move/change.
    Light to tow.
    Makes camper lighter - 440kg empty.
    Cheap about $89 ea to change every 10 years.
    Small so easy to carry a spare - never needed one yet, first 10 years the spare never saw the road before getting changed.
    Narrow so less drag on and off road.
    Light so never needed to lower tyre pressures to travel over sand.

    Cons
    Can't use trailer spare for car - never need to yet ether.

    My little camper trailer (No 5) has 750/16's and the vehicle 235/85/16's. BFG KM2's on car when touring and Steeltreks on trailer.

    They're interchangeable. Works for me.

    Narrow. same principles apply.
    I have always thought it better to have all the wheels with the same track, nothing harder than trying to drag a trailer through sand/trees with 4inches of trailer tyre (each side) making new tracks,,
